July 23, 2021
Dear CSD Staff, Students, Families, and Community Members,
The first day of the 2021-22 school year is quickly approaching! My name
is Dr. Amy Nguyen-Hernandez and I’m thrilled to be joining Central School
District as your new Superintendent of Schools. I look forward to getting to
know you as we continue the tradition of making learning our top priority
while maintaining the family atmosphere, passion and integrity that makes
Central School District a wonderful place to learn, work, and grow.
Some important information as we prepare for the first day of school on
Wednesday, August 4, 2021:
1. School will be in-person, all five days, for the full school day. For
your school’s start and dismissal times, please visit our website or
your school’s website page.
2. We will be providing FREE breakfast and lunch at each school to
ALL students daily. Breakfast and lunch menus will be posted on
each school’s website page and updated monthly.
3. At this time, in compliance with CDPH guidelines, except for those
who have a verified medical exemption on file, ALL students and
staff will be required to wear a mask, regardless of vaccination
status, while indoors at the school sites. A mask will be provided for
those who forget their mask.
4. Wearing masks outside during recess and outdoor activities will be
optional for ALL students and staff regardless of vaccination status.
5. Kid/Teen Central before and after school childcare is available for a
fee at each school site. Space is limited. Visit our website for more
information.
6. For this school year only, in compliance with SB 130, we will
continue to offer our CHOICE homeschool along with a newly
created Central Independent Study (CIS) as an alternative to our
standard in-person schooling. Both options will require parents to
be their child’s learning coach. For more information, visit our
website.
7. We will continue to adjust as mandated by federal, state, and local
health guidelines. Any adjustments will be communicated using our
website, CSD91730 app, and phone system.
To increase our communication with our families, we have updated our website.
We’re proud of the new look and hope you will find it helpful in finding answers to
your questions. We’ll continue to add information that will be helpful for you, so let
us know what you’d like to have on our website to assist you.
Our new website can be found at: www.centralsd.net
In addition, if you haven’t done so already, we encourage our families to download
the free Central School District 91730 app from the Apple Store or Google
Play Store. Important information will be posted on our website and sent through
our app on a regular basis. Urgent messages regarding our schools can quickly be
sent through our app, so be the first to know by having the CSD91730 app on your
phone with the notifications turned on.
CSD is prepared to educate our students in a safe environment. Our dedicated
staff are excited to have our students back in school. We can’t wait to see our staff
in action as they engage our students in learning.
Thank you for continuing to be partners with CSD. This will be a great year!
Sincerely,
Dr.Amy Nguyen-Hernandez
